Goodbye, Dragon Inn
Ming-Liang Tsai / TW, 2003 / 82 min.
The weather is extreme in many of Tsai Ming-liang’s films: in Goodbye, Dragon Inn it is pouring with rain on the night a faded old cinema in Taipei opens its doors for the last time.

There are only a handful of visitors – and they seem to be more interested in each other than in the film. This melancholic yet at the same time very humoristic film is characterized by long shots and sparse dialogues. Lee Kang-sheng, Tsai's favourite actor and alter ego, plays the projectionist. Two veteran actors who played in Hu”s original film also star in Tsai's film.
