Hangfeng Chen - Collaging time: Intertwined Connection between Personal and Collective Memory
Keep an Eye 2023: Hangfeng Chen
Hangfeng Chen delves into his personal encounters while residing and traveling between Amsterdam and Shanghai amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

The presentation offers insights into the unique embodied experiences and observations Chen encountered during the pandemic. By intertwining personal narratives and found materials with audiovisual documentation, he provides a multi-dimensional perspective that shed light on the complexities and implications of navigating life and research across international borders during this turbulent period.
Through the juxtaposition of personal memory images, the reappropriation of found images on social media, and the integration of propaganda images sourced from historical archives, the individual encounters an experience of absurdity that instils doubt regarding the veracity of the depicted events. This experience prompts the individual to contemplate an introspective query: can one truly derive meaningful lessons from history while concurrently existing in the present?
