After a successful international tour with her dance company, Anja returns home to celebrate Christmas with her family. Anja, however, is confronted with devastating news. She has a brain tumour and does not have long to live.
Her partner, theatre director Tomas (Stellan Skarsgård), their own three children and the three children from Tomas' first marriage are waiting for her. Together they try to find a way to share the news with their relatives. In the time that is left, their relationship is severely tested.
Norwegian filmmaker Maria Sødahl debuted in 2010 with the film Limbo, which won 5 Amandas (the Norwegian equivalent of the Academy Award) at the time.
