In memoriam Peter Fonda: Easy Rider
Peter Fonda died 16 August at the age of 79. He gained iconic status as the face of the sixties through his role in Easy Rider, the definitive film about the search for freedom. "They went looking for America, and couldn't find it anywhere," the film's poster read at the time.
The film contained the disappointment of the hippie dream; the pursuit of 'love, peace & happiness' resulted in a disillusion. The ideals did not last as the US became increasingly entangled in the Vietnam war, racial riots and, ultimately, Watergate. Eye screens Easy Rider in 35mm in tribute to Fonda.
