KABK researchlab: Blind Spot
Students from various departments of the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague scoured EYE’s film collections looking for films on the forbidden glance. The programme also includes Wild Beaming, an outdoor projection at EYE.
Film is full of blind spots, whether it is in the way the world around us is represented, in social or political functions, or in the medium of film itself. What makes us curious? What scares us? Why do we close our eyes?The RAA students used found footage from EYE”s collection as the basis for new work, which ranges from performances to installations and films. In this programme put together by the students, their own work is combined with found footage on taboos in the avant-garde.
Preceded by Forbidden Glance.The students have another treat in store for the audience: a Wild Beaming project, an outdoor projection at EYE on a screen measuring ca. 20 x 10 metres. In this site-specific work, the images compete with the surrounding sounds and the projection merges with the location.
