Kevin Osepa en spiritualiteit in Curaçaose kunsten
Kevin Osepa, winner of a Golden Calf for short film, talks about the work of Felix de Rooy and spirituality in (Dutch) Caribbean art and culture, using fragments from his films. Visual artists Nash Caldera and Darwin Winklaar are guests. The evening is moderated by film programmer Saskia Mollen.

Guests
Nash Caldera is a visual and performance artist (Willemstad, Curaçao, 1991). In her work she explores her identity as a Black Queer Woman. By exploring her identity she touches the subjects of the colonial past and how it plays a role in our life now in this post-colonial era.
By doing so, she also creates experiences and teaches about herself in relation to her culture. Religion, especially Afro-Caribbean Religion like Santeria, is visually very present in her works, but also superstitions she grew up with are incorporated.
Darwin Winklaar’s work is based on the notion of “altarismo”, a concept which shaped most of the artist's upbringing. A series of six altars teleports the audience to the magical realm where Winklaars’ childhood memories are being venerated, healed and liberated.
The multidisciplinary artist uses embodied storytelling, music, dance and singing to decolonize and convey his artistic practice. Winklaar reintroduces a new genre informed by his Aruban roots: Neo-Folklorism.
