Music teacher JJ winds up by chance in post-Troubles Belfast in a circle including self-proclaimed 'scum' Naoise and Liam Óg – the three of them form improbable, rebellious rap trio Kneecap. The soft-spoken teacher quickly transforms into a foul-mouthed DJ. Kneecap rail in Irish against the established order and become the unexpected figureheads of a civil rights movement aimed at saving their native Irish language. In the meantime, the audacious, anarchic trio have to deal with the police, paramilitaries and politicians, all of whom want to shut them up. Eventually, however, it is family and relationship issues that threaten to pull the plug on their loudspeakers.
