La captive is a story about Simon’s obsession for his girlfriend Ariane, who willingly agrees to becoming his ‘captive’. The screenplay was co-written by Eric de Kuyper, who collaborated on several of Chantal Akerman’s films.

Filmmaker and film lecturer Eric De Kuyper is a former associate director of the Filmmuseum. His views on cinema and his passion for cinematic experience and film history have been a major influence on Eye”s policies on collecting and presentation.
restorations
Eye restored De Kuyper”s films and presents them in the light of De Kuyper”s views on cinema. With introductions, live music and screenings of classic films from Eye”s collections and those of the Royal Belgian Film Archive in Brussels. The shows are introduced and attended by De Kuyper and cast and crew members of his films.
