La meglio gioventù
Marco Giordana / IT, 2003 / 366 min.
This six-hour family epic presents forty years of Italian history through the lives of a family in Rome. The student movement of the 1960s, the Red Brigades and the murder of mafia hunter Falcone all pass by in a mix of political and personal histories.

One-off, exclusive screening of the Italian epic La meglio gioventù, which took Dutch cinemas by storm in 2004.
La meglio gioventù tells the story of an Italian family from the end of the 1960s through to the present. Nicola and Matteo are two brothers who initially share the same dreams, books and friends. A meeting with Giorgia, a young girl with psychiatric problems, sets their fates on different courses, however. Nicola decides to become a psychiatrist, while Matteo gives up his studies and joins the police.
Screens in a digitally restored version.
