La mujer sin cabeza
Lucrecia Martel / AR, FR, IT, ES, 2008 / 87 min.
“Explain everything? How dull.” Filmmaker Lucrecia Martel is clear about her preference for films that leave much to the viewer’s own imagination. In the art-house thriller La mujer sin cabeza (The Headless Woman), a woman has an identity crisis following a car accident. Are her recollections of the event real?
“The Headless Woman” is the English title of Martel’s third long feature film. It’s how swanky Victoria feels as she hits something with her car one night. There’s a dull thud. Has she run over a person? An animal? Victoria’s life is spinning out of control as she tries to find answers.
