La Singla
Paloma Zapata / ES, 2023 / 92 min.
Antonia Singla, a flamenco dancer who never heard the music but let her passion speak.

Born in the suburbs of Barcelona, Antonia Singla became deaf shortly after birth. She discovered the art of flamenco dance through sensing vibrations and mimicking rhythm. By the age of 17, she had taken the flamenco world by storm, lighting up Europe’s stages with her fervent expression. Salvador Dali painted her, and she featured in an Oscar-nominated film. But, before she reached 30, she vanished from the limelight. Five decades later, a young woman stumbles upon old archives and is entranced by La Singla. A haunting tragedy seems to lurk behind her eyes. Compelled to uncover the truth, she embarks on a journey to discover the heartbreaking story behind La Singla's disappearance.
Flamenco choir Tiri Tiri
To set the mood, the premiere of La Singla will feature a special performance by the Flamenco choir Tiri Tiri. This diverse group of Flamenco enthusiasts began their journey under Yota Baron's singing classes in 2019. An a cappella performance will follow the documentary screening to bring the art of 'cante jondo' from Amsterdam to the world.
