L'Eclisse

Last part of Antonioni’s love trilogy which also includes L’avventura and La notte.

The three films are characterized by a sense of alienation as lovers are trying to get closer to each other. In L”eclisse Vittoria (Monica Vitti) dumps her extremely jealous lover for Piero, a sophisticated stockbroker (Alain Delon). From 12 September 2015 to 17 January 2016, Eye presented Michelangelo AntonioniIl maestro del cinema moderno, an exhibition about one of the foremost innovators in film from the last century. The exhibition showed how Antonioni renewed the grammar of film by thinking in terms of the image and less in terms of narrative.
