Let's Get Lost
Bruce Weber / US, 1989 / 120 min.
Bruce Weber’s portrait of cool jazz legend Chet Baker reveals how drugs ultimately led to his demise. The film – more of a dreamy film noir than a documentary – was shot just four months before Baker’s fatal fall from a hotel window in Amsterdam.

Weber shadows a broken, skeletal Baker through the streets of Santa Monica, through recording studios in Los Angeles, and to the South of France. These pitiful scenes are interspersed with photos and videos of the young Baker, bursting with the promise of becoming James Dean, Frank Sinatra and Bix Beiderbecke all rolled into one.
