Love in the Big City
Lee Eon-hee / KR, 2024 / 118 min.
Set across a decade in Seoul, two best friends navigate the highs and lows of young adulthood—from love and loss to social and familial pressures—weaving together a heartwarming celebration of friendship.

Jae-hee and Heung-soo meet at university, where they bond over feeling misunderstood. The free-spirited and outspoken Jae-hee is ridiculed for refusing to conform, while the quiet and reserved Heung-soo’s fear of coming out leads him to hide his true self. In each other, they find freedom and acceptance, though their deep friendship is often misread by others, especially after they become roommates. Whilst building their individual lives side by side, their inseparable bond brings joy, solace, and occasional complications.
Based on author Park Sang-young’s novel of the same name, Love in the Big City offers a poignant portrait of young adulthood under the pressures of urban life. Set across a decade in Seoul, we follow Jae-hee and Heung-soo through the highs and lows of their 20s—from love, heartbreak, and loss, to the struggles of social and familial pressures. Anchored by the vibrant chemistry between leads Kim Go-eun and Steve Sanghyun Noh, this moving coming-of-age story is a joyful celebration of friendship.
