Love Witch, The
Anna Biller / US, 2016
The tables are turned in filmmaker Anna Biller’s The Love Witch: this time the fatal seducer is a woman, and it is a man who gets caught in the net. The feminist horror comedy was previously screened at the International Film Festival Rotterdam where it attracted notice for its fine sense of humour and ditto sense of style. The film is both a comment on traditional role patterns and a tribute to the soft eroticism of the sixties, filmed in glowing Technicolor. With an introduction by film historian Helen Westerik.
