Lili Rademakers / NL, BE, 1982 / 86 min.
Lili Rademakers-Veenman, wife of Fons Rademakers, directed two feature films and played a pivotal role in the creation of Rademakers’ oeuvre. To mark the publication of Jutta Chorus’ book 'Alma's dochters – vijf levens in de schaduw', Eye is screening the 35mm conserved version of Lili Rademakers’ first feature film.
For her debut film, Lili Rademakers and co-screenwriter Hugo Claus adapted the novelle of the same title by Flemish writer Louis Paul Boon, a ‘domestic drama’ about a man and a woman in a sexually dysfunctional marriage. The wife seeks pleasure in the arms of her brother-in-law, while the husband falls for a thirteen-year-old servant girl.
