Patricio Guzmán went onto the streets to record the demonstrations of October 2019 in Santiago, Chile. One and a half million people marched through Santiago to demand more democracy, a more dignified life, better education, a better health system and a new constitution.
Thirty-two people were killed and thousands wounded by violence from the army. What started out as protests by high school students against an increase in the price of metro tickets became a mass protest against Chile’s conservative government.
