Mid90s
Jonah Hill / US, 2018 / 85 min.
Sometimes, actors make films too. Jonah Hill (The Wolf of Wall Street) surprises with this portrait of 13-year-old Stevie, who finds a connection with a bunch of slightly older skaters in Los Angeles in the mid '90s. Hill shot his debut on 16mm.

Stevie regularly flees outside, onto the streets, when his older brother Ian is bothering him. There, he sees a bunch of older teenagers hanging around; smoking dope, drinking and having a laugh. They are skaters: when they’re not smoking, drinking or making stupid jokes, they whizz around the streets of LA on their boards, hair flapping in the wind.
