Miracle Mile
Steve De Jarnatt / US, 1988 / 87 min.
A bizarre, highly original film set in a neon-drenched LA that could be hit by an atomic bomb at any moment. The memorable music by Tangerine Dream captures the seductive artificiality of LA superbly with its stylish sounds.

After a jazz musician unintentionally gets a telephone call claiming that nuclear warheads have been launched and the Third World War is immanent, he tries to get himself and the woman he loves to safety. Nothing within the sub-genre of nuclear war films compares to Miracle Mile with its feeling of unreality, drenched in Cold War paranoia and enchanting dreaminess.
