Murder Investigation Night

Koolhoven & Simons: Murder Investigation Night

Crime author, screenwriter and police inspector Simon de Waal will talk about to what extent films paint an accurate picture of murder investigations. He will do so on the basis of excerpts from films including Moord in extase, Fire Walk With Me and Naked Gun. Followed by the feature presentation Narc.

How believable was Dutch TV personality Ron Brandsteder as Vledder in Moord in extase (1984)? Simon de Waal will demonstrate where films do or don’t get it right when a police inspector appears using excerpts from, among other films, Fire Walk With Me (1992) and Naked Gun (1988). Followed by tonight’s feature presentation Narc (Joe Carnahan, 2002), a grim, yet refreshing police film replete with visual flair which also pays attention to the psyche.

Koolhoven & Simons

Koolhoven and Simons will be scrutinising the genre film, presenting films within pretty forthright themes that have never before been screened at Eye. Expect evenings on Trucker, Grindhouse or Revenge of Nature films. A tribute to rarely screened trailers and forgotten classics, where possible in 35mm, using films from Eye’s collection.
