Muy lejos

Gerard Oms / ES, NL, 2025 / 100 min.

Sergio travels to Utrecht with his family to attend a football match. Before catching the flight back to Barcelona,he suffers a panic attack and decides to stay in Holland. Unable to give a logical explanation to his family, he cuts off contact with his past.

From then on, Sergio will have to survive without money, without friends, without a home and without speaking the language, until he is able to find himself. Starring Mario Casas, Muy lejos is more than a survival story; it is a profound reflection on identity, loneliness, and the need for reinvention.

Through Sergio’s disconnection, the film invites the audience to explore fear, isolation, and the desperate desire to find oxygen in a stifling life. With a seamless blend of cultures, this Spanish-Dutch co-production offers an intimate and moving experience, reminding us that sometimes, losing ourselves is the only way to truly find who we are. The screening will be followed by an Industry Panel where co-production between Spain and the Netherlands are discussed. Director Gerard Oms and some cast members will be present.
