Neighboring Sounds

Kleber Mendonça Filho / BR, 2012 / 131 min.

Portrait of a typical Brazilian middle-class neighbourhood in Recife. When private security guard Clodoaldo offers the promise of security at night, the film takes an unexpected turn.

poster Neighboring Sounds (Kleber Mendonça Filho, BR 2012)
A neighbourhood in Recife, an area of eclectic architecture, is almost entirely owned by a single affluent family. Inside it’s safe and the rich live comfortably with their servants. Outside on the streets, however, the residents come face to face with the underprivileged. The quiet is misleading as tensions build up among the characters.
