No Other Land
This winner of the Oscar for Best Documentary follows a young Palestinian activist who has been struggling against the mass displacement of his people by the Israeli authorities since childhood. Screening to mark Palestine Cinema Day.

In No Other Land, Palestinian activist Basel Adra documents the destruction of villages on the West Bank of the River Jordan, where Israeli soldiers are gradually demolishing homes and driving out the inhabitants. When Basel meets Israeli journalist Yuval, an unexpected friendship blossoms between them. Although Yuval supports him in his efforts, their relationship tested by the extreme inequality: Basel is living under a military occupation, while Yuval is free and can do as he pleases.
No Other Land, made by a Palestinian-Israeli collective consisting of Basel Adra, Yuval Abraham, Hamdan Ballal and Rachel Szor, is an act of creative resistance that seeks justice in this ongoing conflict. The documentary had its world première at the film festival in Berlin, where it won both the Panorama Dokumente Audience Award and the Berlinale Documentary Award.
The film has now screened at various international festivals and received many awards, including the Oscar for Best Documentary. Palestinian director Hamdan Ballal was then in the news after being attacked by Israeli colonists and arrested.
Screens as part of Palestine Cinema Day.
