Gianfranco Rosi / IT, FR, DE, 2020 / 100 min.
Once again Gianfranco Rosi demonstrates he has a keen eye for the lives of ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances. In his previous film Fuocoammare we encountered Lampedusa’s residents and refugees. For his new film Notturno, this painterly director travelled to the border regions of Syria, Iraq and Lebanon.
Film journalist Hugo Emmerzael (Filmkrant) spoke to Rosi about his latest film.
