Palombella rossa
Nanni Moretti / IT, 1989 / 87 min.
Nanni Moretti’s latest film, that premiered in Cannes, will now be screened at Eye alongside Palombella rossa from 1989: Moretti’s take on Italy on the eve of Berlusconi’s later prime minister’s position is a razor sharp satire on the left’s failure.

Michele Appicella, an important member of the PCI, the Italian communist party, has an odd day. He discovers he has largely lost his memory as during a game of water polo reminiscences of his youth, friends, family and political career return. Michele’s fellow players are unaware of his amnesia which resulted from a car accident.
