Beautifully acted and filmed road movie in which Travis Henderson (Harry Dean Stanton) returns from the desert after a four-year absence to track down his eight-year-old son Hunter so, together, they can go in search of Jane, Travis’ young wife (Nastassja Kinski). The journey takes in gas stations, motels and little towns along the highway. Travis and Hunter get to know each other on the road, each determined to find their slice of the American Dream.
