Pulp fiction
Quentin Tarantino / US, 1994 / 149 min.
To highlight the premiere of The Hateful Eight, EYE presents a few unadulterated Tarantino classics on the big screen, light years removed from the teeny, stunted and far too cramped screens of the average mobile, tablet or laptop. For all Tarantino fans: screenings of Grindhouse: Death Proof, Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs on honest, deeply warm and human 35mm celluloid!

Pulp Fiction marked the comeback of former Hollywood star John Travolta and provided the breakthrough role for supporting actor Samuel L. Jackson. They play a pair of not too bright contract killers who are drawn into an assignment that”s way out of their league, with many unintentional deaths and hilarious dialogues as a result.
In his homage to the Hollywood pulp films of the thirties and forties, Tarantino examines the mob scene through the lens of fiction and cartoons. The various episodes in Pulp Fiction don”t really revolve around a common theme, but it hardly matters. The razor-sharp dialogues, the obvious relish with which the star cast (including Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis and Harvey Keitel) play their characters and the exciting action render a neat storyline all but superfluous.
