Querelle

Rainer Werner Fassbinder / DE, FR, IT, 1982 / 108 min.

Fassbinder’s swan song, after Jean Genet’s homo-erotic novel Querelle de Brest (1953). Lysiane, the owner of a brothel (played by Jeanne Moreau) sings 'Each man kills the thing he loves' as French sailor Querelle (Brad Davis) loses himself in an erotically charged game of dice with Nono, her husband.

Querelleposter

Querelle was to be Fassbinder”s last film; the highly prolific filmmaker (over forty films in sixteen years) took his own life in 1982.Free prosecco served after the performance.
