Rebel Without a Cause
Nicholas Ray / US, 1955
Jim Stark, the son of a good family, is a troubled student who has difficulty adapting to his new surroundings. He accepts a dangerous challenge, to take part in a high-speed drag race. The ‘chicken run’ ends in tragedy for his rival.
Rebel Without a Cause not only made director Ray famous, it was also one of the first great American films to be sympathetic to the plight of emotionally unbalanced teens and the conflicts they are faced with. Jim is both the victim of chance and a sterile upbringing. The film was nominated for three Oscars.18.00 – 19.00 guided tour of the EYE building
