Programme
The Paper Ensemble #16 (Jiska Rickels & Jochem van Tol. 2022. 16')
In an old empty paper factory we follow a woman playing with mesmerizing sculptures of paper. Inspired by the design of Japanese gardens, The Paper Ensemble invites you to be receptive to a world made entirely out of the sounds of paper. Crackling bushes, ocean waves and singing whales.
Is Heaven Blue? #2 (Menno de Nooijer & Paul de Nooijer, 2023, 17')
Time leaves its mark on the bodies of the three De Nooijers, mother, father and son. This is a farewell to their oeuvre, the result of fifty years of making art and living together marked by photography, animation and film.
Budapest Silo (Zsófia Paczolay, 2022, 25')
József works at the largest still-operational grain silo in Budapest. He’s been doing this - dangerous - work for more than 30 years; when he is lowered into the ten-story-deep silos to clean them, he looks like a scuba diver at work. These scenes are captured with stunning, contrast-rich camerawork, and ably edited with a strong sound design. In the sublime closing scene, he performs a dazzling, dizzying dance in the silo — strapped to safety cables, but flying nonetheless.
