Sholay

Ramesh Sippy / IN, 1975

Sholay was truly the biggest film of its times and having stars like Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Jaya Bhaduri and Amjad Khan in a frame was magical.

Also, who can ever forget the supporting cast -- A.K. Hangal, Satyen Kappu, Asrani, Sachin, Viju Khote, Mac Mohan, Jagdeep, Leela Mishra, Iftekhar... Every performance was beyond perfect! On the whole, there are films and there is Sholay. Frankly, it would be sacrilegious to miss this classic. Watching the film in 3D is truly an experience. And for those who haven't watched the original version, all I'd say is, watch it pronto, for you cannot replicate a film like Sholay. Ever.In the small village of Ramgarh, the retired policeman Thakur Baldev Singh (Sanjeev Kumar) summons a pair of small-time thieves that he had once arrested. Thakur feels that the duo—Veeru (Dharmendra) and Jai (Amitabh Bachchan)—would be ideal to help him capture Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan), a dacoit wanted by the authorities.
