Programme
The Walking Fish (Tessa Meijer, NL 2018, 19’)
A determined amphibian sea-creature wants to venture into the human world. Her dream of evolving into the perfect individual is so strong that she overcomes the physical boundaries of her fish-body and transforms into a human being.
Hybrids (Florian Brauch, Matthieu Pujol, Kim Tailhades, Yohan Thireau, Romain Thirion, FR 2017, 7’)
When marine wildlife has to adapt to the pollution surrounding it, the rules of survival change.
Reimerswaal (Clara van Gool, NL 2004, 8’)
The starting point for this film is the poem Reimerswaal by Gerrit Achterberg. We are witness to a crime of passion. A couple experience their last fatal moments in a dance in and under water.
Speel met me (Esther Rots, NL 2002, 11’)
Under water, dreams become reality. Against the background of a summery, tranquil Dutch landscape, a submerged young woman gets entangled in the confusing thoughts of her subconscience. Her memories clash with her daydreams. What appeared to be love, ends in fear and anger. Reality is lost.
Careless Reef Part 4 Marsa Abu Galawa (Gerard Holthuis, NL 2006, 12')
Impression of the underwater world in the red sea. The film is a bombardment of images and features the music of Abdel Basset Hamouda, an Egyptian musician. The structure of the film is based on the so called flicker films, in which the unconscious experience of the images is more important than the actual images.
