Silent Waters
Sabiha Sumar / PK, FR, DE, 2003 / 99 min.
A bold indictment of the intolerance against women and their status in her native Pakistan by female director Sabiha Sumar. The film was shot and edited under trying conditions, but Sumar was determined to make a success of it. Her chief object was to breathe new life into independent Pakistani cinema.

Silent Waters won the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival, while Kirron Kher received the Best Actress Award.
