Takara - La nuit où j’ai nagé
Kohei Igarashi, Damien Manivel / JP, FR, 2017 / 78 min.
Six-year-old Takara has an adventure in the snow as he tries to take a drawing to his father. Using a very simple storyline – warm, funny, wistful and engaging – the two filmmakers managed to evoke an entire world, relying on the power of the image. They decided not to give any acting instructions to the little boy, encouraging him instead to improvise.

Filmmakers Kohei Igarashi and Damien Manivel (Le parc) love simplicity and turn reality into magic. Takara, a film without dialogue, reveals the charm of everyday life.

Screened at prominent national and international festivals, yet never released in Dutch cinemas. Quite unjustly so, Eye Filmmuseum thinks, and so it has once again brought an exceptional selection of films from international festivals to the Netherlands.
