Teorema

Pier Paolo Pasolini / IT, 1968 / 98 min.

Pasolini shows how vulnerable the thin layer of civilisation is keeping a conventional, well-heeled Milan family together. One day, a young blonde god arrives, full of playful eroticism. He exercises a magnetic power of attraction over the members of the family. Pasolini's film inspired Ivo van Hove to create a play of the same title. See the exhibition All About Theatre About Film.

“Emotions had nowhere to go in this conventional family”, according to Ivo van Hove, “but the arrival of the young man shakes things up and brings them into the open.” With dramatic consequences. “The last vestige of hope is that something new can flourish in the ruins.”

All About Theatre About Film

Film and theatre influence each other continuously. To celebrate that relationship between the two worlds, Eye has invited stage director Ivo van Hove and scenographer Jan Versweyveld to compile an exhibition.
