The metropolis Manilla in the Philippines shows no mercy to the poor. It’s a dog-eat-dog world, even for eleven-year-old Ginto and his sister Asia. Ginto decides that a life of crime is preferable to being dependent on assistance; much to the dismay of his sister Asia, a sex worker who’s saving up for a better life.
