The Glass Wall
Maxwell Shane / US, 1953 / 80 min.
Classic from Columbia Pictures, which recently celebrated its centenary. Auschwitz survivor Peter Kaban arrives in the US aiming to start a new life. Will he find recognition as a displaced refugee? An early role by Italian actor Vittorio Gassman.

When Peter (Gassman) sails for the US, having survived a Nazi concentration camp and imprisonment in Communist Hungary, he hopes the immigration service will recognise his status as a displaced refugee. But it doesn’t turn out like that: if Peter can’t produce the required papers and proofs within 24 hours, he faces deportation.
