The Insect Woman
A woman’s life: she is born in the country in 1919, becomes a madam in Tokyo and returns with her daughter to the place where she was born in 1963. As ruthless as the world that produced her, she has the survival instinct of an insect. Through her, Imamura created a fascinating portrait of three generations of Japanese women, women who flaunt all conventions.
