The Long Day Closes
Terence Davies / GB, 1992 / 84 min.
One of Terence Davies' most beautiful autobiographical films is drenched in magic and melancholy. He sensitively tells the story from the perspective of a quiet, lonely boy growing up in 1950’s Liverpool.

Terence Davies returns to his happy childhood in Liverpool, the story of "a paradise, yet one already lost which will only live on in memory ", he said concerning The Long Day Closes, his third, and final, autobiographical film. Instead of simply relating a story, Davies jumps through time, immerses himself in his fantasies and fears, eliciting memories and dreams.
