The Magnificent Seven
John Sturges / US, 1960 / 125 min.
Where to find and enjoy them, westerns as they don’t make them anymore? Where else but at Eye? What’s more, it’s the iconic all-star western The Magnificent Seven that's on offer, in an impeccable 35mm print.

Director John Sturgess based his film on Seven Samurai, the Japanese classic with which Akira Kurosawa had stormed the cinemas six years previously. Kurosawa was himself a big fan of Sturgess' remake, presenting his American colleague with a samurai sword after having watched the film.
The Magnificent Seven, in which the inhabitants of a Mexican village plagued by bandits turn to a gang of gunfighters for help, is a tribute to the mythic Wild West and features such stars as Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Yul Brynner, Eli Wallach, Robert Vaughn and James Coburn.
Screened in 35mm.
