The Night of the Hunter
Charles Laughton / US, 1955 / 93 min.
One of the most eccentric films ever made about the battle between good and evil, The Night of the Hunter is suffused with frighteningly beautiful images.

This classic thriller is set in rural 1930's America. Psychopathic preacher Harry Powell (a monumental Robert Mitchum role) has been arrested for grand theft auto. In prison he tries to find out where a death row inmate has stashed 10,000 dollars, but only the latter’s children know. Once the preacher has served his time, he marries the murderer’s widow.
