Themroc
Claude Faraldo / FR, 1972 / 108 min.
Agitator, actor, gentleman’, those were the epithets used for Michel Piccoli. Themroc features Piccoli the agitator in his role as the uncontrollable factory worker Themroc, who takes his social network down with him in a riotous revolt.

Claude Faraldo's anarchic farce from 1973 is a unique feature film. Themroc is a film without dialogue, the soundtrack consisting solely of coughs, growls and primal screams. The perfectly turned out and clearly civilised Piccoli convincingly portrays the character of Themroc who is out of step with the world. With sardonic glee he drags his mother, sister and neighbours into his revolt against the nine to five life of: get up, go to work, come home and repeat.
Themroc regresses to a caveman state and, along with the other inhabitants of the block, turns on the authorities: cops are roasted on spits and eaten with relish.
