Three Kilometres to the End of the World

Emanuel Parvu / RO, 2024 / 104 min.

17-year-old Adi is brutally beaten up. Is this a warning to his father? The attack turns out to be motivated by homophobia; the villagers declare Adi an outcast, forcing him to go his own way. Gripping drama from Romanian director Emanuel Parvu.

Dragoi, an old-fashioned family man, is shocked when his son, Adi, turns up at the door beaten to a pulp. What’s happened? Has Zentov, to whom Dragoi owes money, had his son beaten up as a warning? This turns out not to be the case though: Adi has fallen victim to homophobic violence; his father is at his wits’ end.
