TiF! Born Digital and Hybrid Film Heritage: Side by Side
In conversation with guests, Giovanna Fossati (chief curator at EYE and professor of Film Heritage at the UvA) addresses a wide range of film heritage projects. Each session consists of a (guest) lecture, a Q&A and a film screening, often accompanied by live music.
This lecture will focus on how archives deal with digital-born and hybrid (analog and digital) film elements that filmmakers produce today. Guests Anne Gant (head of Conservation & Digital Access, EYE) and Carlijn Fransen (director) will discuss this and related issues, based on their everyday experience.
Part of this lecture are also the screenings of the short film De Eenzame Eenheid (2016), shot on film and projected digitally, introduced by its director Carlijn Fransen, and of the documentary Side by Side (2012), a “crash course” in itself, in which Keanu Reeves interviews filmmakers such as Martin Scorsese, David Fincher, David Lynch and many others about the impact of digital technology on film production and distribution.
