‘Zuiderzee Works’ is an avant-garde impression of the closure of the Wieringermeer dike in 1929. Joris Ivens, the Netherlands’ most prominent documentary filmmaker, had been following the struggle against the water in the Wieringermeer Polder from the late 1920s. The documentary is screened together with a short as part of the ‘Waterlandse Vloed’ programme.
