
This is Film! #4 Film Restoration Laboratories
In the fourth session of This Is Film! Film Heritage in Practice, a public series devoted to remarkable projects in the fields of film restoration and film heritage, Giovanna Fossati (Chief Curator at Eye and Professor Film Heritage at the UvA) will interview film technician Tulta Behm on the topic Film Restoration Laboratories. The session will conclude with a screening of Het Zakmes / The Pocket-Knife (DCP).

Before becoming the first trainee selected for the Eye Filmmuseum & Haghefilm Digitaal Film Restoration Traineeship Programme, Tulta Behm completed internships in some of the top film restoration and research laboratories around the world like Cineric Inc. in New York, the laboratory at Cinemateca Portuguesa – ANIM in Lisbon, and the Image Permanence Institute in Rochester, NY.
dutch children's film classic
During this session, Behm will give her own take on the topic Film Restoration Laboratories. This session will be accompanied by the screening of the Dutch children's film classic Het Zakmes / The Pocket-Knife (1992), which posed interesting questions with regard to the restoration of its colour when Behm worked on it during her traineeship.
