Ali & Ava
Clio Bernard / GB, 2021 / 95 min.
Heart-warming social criticism. Ali & Ava is the story of a British-Pakistani landlord and a single mother with Irish roots in Bradford, West Yorkshire. The two them really hit if off – but Ali’s marriage, his family and Ava’s five children are all standing in the way…

He is a landlord, the offspring of a successful immigrant family and a fanatical music fan; she has Irish roots, is a single mother to five children, a teaching assistant and also mad about music. They are both in their fifties. Ali is married, but his marriage is going nowhere fast; Ava is a widow.
