DEUZE, 2019 / 12 min.
From 5 to 13 March you can experience the phenomenal VR installation Das Totale Tanz Theater.
Das Totale Tanz Theater was inspired by essays by Bauhaus artist Oskar Schlemmer on costumes and Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius' notion of the total theatre. The VR artwork transports us to a virtual world where we stand among dancers on top of a colossal steel Bauhaus tower block.
100 years of Bauhaus
In 2019, the legacy of the Bauhaus School is as relevant as it was originally. For example, Oskar Schlemmer's Triadisches Ballett depicted the place of man in a rapidly industrialising society. Now we live in a highly digitised society. Once again artists devote themselves to the question of how man and technology relate to each other. Who has control over whom? Das Totale Tanz Theater answers that question in a breath-taking fashion.
Two unique experiences
You will be treated to two unique experiences. Das Totale Tanz Theater is an interactive room-scale installation (12') that contains music by Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch. Einstürzende Neubauten's Blixa Bargeld will guide you through the experience with his voice.
Das Totale Tanz Theater 360 is an 8-minute-long, 360-degree VR music video based on the extensive virtual reality dance experience Das Totale Tanz Theater. Einstürzende Neubauten composed the song 'Si Takka Lumi' exclusively for Das Totale Tanz Theater 360.
The installation was met with unanimous praise from the German media upon its premiere in January 2019.
“New forms of movement and dance in space”

Virtual Reality productions are an increasingly important element of the contemporary film experience. Eye has created a new programme, Xtended, to focus on VR. In Xtended, you’re not confronted with the flat surface of a film screen. You move around virtually in 3D through a designed space that surrounds and immerses you on all sides.
