Hoogtijdagen
Ben van Lieshout / NL, 2020 / 90 min.
An impression of the arctic Kola peninsula in the northwest of Russia. The film recounts the history of this extraordinary place and its inhabitants, showing in Ben van Lieshout’s signature style the desolate landscape, the faded glory and the decay in a stunning colour palette.

After the Revolution in 1917 the Kola peninsula – above the polar circle in the northwest of Russia – was gradually developed and mined for its mineral deposits. Settlements and small towns grew up, named after the raw materials found there: Apatite, Nikel, Titan.
