Into the Wild
Sean Penn / US, 2007 / 148 min.
As humans, we are part of nature, as the protagonist of Into the Wild knows. However, really living in accordance with this insight turns out to be deadly. Recent graduate Chris McCandless leaves everything behind and heads out into the wilderness of Alaska.

He seems to have everything going for him, but rejects it all. Chris McCandless, just graduated, child of wealthy parents, decides to give away all his money, burns the last of his cash, pulls on a rucksack and disappears. Away from suburbia, away from the rat race obsessed by money, prestige and career; away from civilisation.
